Aquaculture solutions provider gobbled up

PR Aqua Supplies Ltd. has a new owner. In-Situ® on Tuesday acquired the Nanaimo, British Columbia-based aquaculture solutions provider, strengthening In-Situ’s presence in the aquaculture market, which began with the 2009 acquisition of Integrator Aqua Systems.

PR Aqua Supplies designs and integrates comprehensive systems for water treatment and fish handling worldwide. The company’s office in Nanaimo will remain open and will retain all existing personnel.

Based in Fort Collins, Colo., In-Situ designs, manufactures, distributes and rents environmental and aquaculture monitoring systems.

“The acquisition of PR Aqua complements our aquaculture strategy by allowing us to significantly increase our portfolio of aquaculture products and services,” said Bob Blythe, president and CEO of In-Situ Inc. “PR Aqua’s diverse engineering, equipment and manufacturing knowledge has allowed their clients to achieve industry leading efficiencies and productivity from intensive aquaculture production. We are very fortunate to be able to partner with them.”

“In-Situ is committed to making the investment in PR Aqua to take what we started to the next level and beyond. As part of In-Situ Inc., we will be able to bring their world-class analytical instrumentation to our clients,” added Wayne Gorrie, founder and CEO of PR Aqua.
