Aquasta now available worldwide

Aquasta® is now available worldwide, following the expansion of production and distribution capabilities at Naturxan LLC of Columbia, Md.

The naturally sourced astaxanthin is made from Phaffia yeast and is used in fish feed to enrich the pigment of salmon and trout flesh. It's made from renewable ingredients without the use of petrochemicals or recombinant DNA modification.

A joint venture between Archer Daniels Midland Co. and Igene Biotechnology, Naturxan has invested more than USD 3 million (EUR 2.4 million) in the past year to scale production capacity and inventory volume to meet its customers' needs.

"Our recent efforts help ensure we can provide feed manufacturers and fish producers around the world with a stable, year-round supply of high quality, industry-tested, naturally-sourced astaxanthin," said Naturxan CEO Richard Grelewicz.

Aquasta is approved by numerous organic programs, including Naturland, BioSuisse, DEBIO, KRAV, DEFRA, the Organic Food Federation, the Irish Organic Farmers and Growers Association and Agriculture Biologique.

"We believe Aquasta provides benefits that cannot be found in other sources which claim to be natural, making us the clear choice in the aquaculture market," said Dr. Stephen Hiu, Naturxan's chief technology officer. "Aquasta does not pigment fish with adonirubin."
