Hendrix Genetics on Friday announced that it acquired of Landcatch & LNS (Landcatch Natural Selection) from Lithgows Ltd., the Dutch company’s first venture into the aquaculture business.
Landcatch is a supplier of Atlantic salmon eggs and juveniles, produced at its land-based facilities in Scotland. The company applies advanced selective breeding technologies to the Landcatch strain of Atlantic salmon.
Thijs Hendrix, president of Hendrix Genetics, called the acquisition of Landcatch & LNS a “natural fit with our existing multi-species portfolio.” The company, which operates in 22 countries and has more than 1,500 employees, is also involved in pig and turkey breeding and poultry distribution.
Hugh Currie, managing director of Landcatch & LNS, added: “It is a great day for our customers and employees as we are now linked with a global leader in animal genetics. We are excited by the possibilities this brings.”
