Canadian firm acquires Global SeaFarms

Canada-based FRV Media on Monday announced that it has agreed to acquire a 100 percent interest in Global SeaFarms Group (GSF).

GSF is a privately owned company developing and acquiring aquaculture projects in the Americas. It’s pursuing a unique growth strategy aimed at two keys areas: warm water opportunities in the Caribbean Sea and cold water opportunities in North America. The company currently has a highly scalable operating platform in the Dominican Republic and is engaged in identifying and acquiring additional operational rights and assets in the region.

GSF’s operations in the Caribbean are conducted through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Caribbean Sea Farms, which holds what it believes to be one of the largest aquaculture operating permits in the Caribbean. The permit allows Caribbean Sea Farms to raise 10 different species of fish, with a focus on Florida pompano. The company also has a commercial-scale hatchery in the Dominican capital of Santo Domingo and a farm site in Salinas.

FRV shareholders are scheduled to vote on the acquisition at company’s annual meeting on 31 January.

Based in Montreal, FRV Media is a film and television content provider.
