Multiexport Foods on Tuesday reported that it became Chile’s first salmon producer to achieve GlobalGAP Integrated Farm Assurance Standard Version 4.0.
The GlobalGAP standard is designed to minimize the environmental impacts of farming by reducing the use of chemical inputs and ensuring a responsible approach to worker health and safety as well as animal welfare.
Multiexport is one of the few salmon-farming companies in the world to be certified under the new GlobalGAP Version 4.0 standard, which was introduced in early May during the European Seafood Exposition.
“We are very proud of this achievement and it is a testimonial to the commitment we have as an organization to practice responsible aquaculture. Our industry and our company are part of the solution to feed the world today and tomorrow in a sustainable way,” said Multiexport CEO Andres Lyon.
Multiexport Foods is one of Chile’s largest salmon producers and is publically traded on the Santiago stock exchange.
