Friend of the Sea has granted sustainability certification to the Gloria Maris company’s Meagre, European seabass and Gilthead seabream farming plants.
The plants are on the island of Corse off the French coast, within the bay of Ajaccio and Campomoro, part of a national park.
The company received the certification after an audit from an international certification body. The plants’ fish escape prevention system and energy management systems, the nonprofit found, were in compliant with Friend of the Sea standards.
“In gaining Friend of the Sea prominent certification we can highlight the efforts made in looking after our fish and the measures undertaken to maintain strict sustainable management practices, ” said Philippe Riera, Gloria Maris’ president.
