IFFO taps new technical director for 2016

The Marine Ingredients Organization (IFFO) has named Neil Auchterlonie as its new technical director following the retirement of current position-holder Andrew Jackson effective at the end of 2015.

With a background that includes B.Sc, M.Sc and PhD degrees in Marine Biology, Applied Fish Biology and Aquaculture, Auchterlonie will do well assuming such a key role in the IFFO paradigm.

“The technical services provided by IFFO to members and the wider industry are a key part of the organization. Neil was the unanimous choice of the selection panel for this critical role from a wide range of international candidates. Andy Jackson has made a huge contribution to IFFO and I am delighted that Neil brings a set of new skills to further develop our services to members,” said Andrew Mallison, IFFO Director General.

Auchterlonie has worked with aquaculture companies as well as governmental departments and research agencies on a variety of aquaculture and fisheries science programs. He has a strong track record for managing such efforts in both the public and private sector, and specializes in commissioning.

“I am delighted to be offered this opportunity to join the team at IFFO. I have been aware of the excellent work of both IFFO and Andy Jackson over the years, and I am very humbled to be offered this chance to contribute to the organization’s work at a crucially important and exciting time for the marine ingredients industry and the aquaculture sector,” said Auchterlonie of his appointment.

Auchterlonie will officially take over as technical director on 1 January 2016 after working with Jackson through a two-month transition period.
