Marine Farms Acquires Salmon Farm Licenses in Scotland

Marine Farms ASA announced today that its subsidiary, Lakeland Marine Farms Ltd., has completed its acquisition of two Scottish salmon farm licenses from Lighthouse Caledonia ASA for about $4.3 million.

The new licenses will increase Lakeland Marine Farms' annual production capacity by about 15 percent, or 1,500 metric tons of salmon.

Additionally, Lakeland Marine Farms purchased applications for two new salmon farm sites in the same area, but they have not yet been approved by Scottish authorities.

Based in Bergen, Norway, Marine Farms has fish-farming operations in Norway, the United Kingdom, Spain, Belize and Vietnam and employs 500 workers.
