Multiexport: 57% jump in 2Q, 1H sales

High Atlantic salmon and trout prices propelled Multiexport Foods’ second-quarter results, which the Chilean company called “outstanding.”

Multiexport’s revenue jumped 57.4 percent in second quarter of 2011 to USD 82.3 million and 57.1 percent in the first half of 2011 to USD 159.4 million, the company reported on Thursday.

Its operating profit in the second quarter of 2011 amounted USD 19.3 million, up from USD 7.2 million in the second quarter of 2010, an impressive 168.1 percent increase.

The second-quarter company’s net profit, however, fell from USD 8.7 million in 2010 to USD 6.2 million in 2011, while its first-half net profit edged up from USD 14.3 million in 2010 to USD 16 million in 2011.

Multiexport produced 9,359 metric tons of salmon and trout in the second quarter of 2011, a 12.6 percent increase from the same period in 2010.
