New director at Marine Harvest Chile

Marine Harvest Chile on Monday announced that it appointed Roberto Riethmüller as its managing director.

Riethmüller has held several key positions in Marine Harvest Chile since 2004. Last year, he worked at the company’s Oslo headquarters, responsible for the financial follow-up of Marine Harvest Chile and other business units.

Riethmüller replaces Alvaro Jimenez, who had served as managing director since April 2008 and stepped down on Monday. To ensure a smooth transition, Jimenez will work as a special advisor through 10 April.

“We are grateful for Alvaro Jimenez’ strong contribution in the significant downscaling and turnaround of our Chilean operations over the last years, required when the ISA (infectious salmon anemia) disease struck the entire Chilean salmon-farming industry in 2007,” said Alf-Helge Aarskog, Marine Harvest CEO.

“He took over management at a critical point in time, and has rapidly reduced Marine Harvest’s exposure in Chile and positioned the organization and the asset base for profitable growth when the conditions are right,” he added.
