New website focuses on hatchery feed, management

A new website geared toward fish farmers, hatchery operators, feed manufacturers and researchers has been launched.

An initiative of Aquafeed.com, Hatcheryfeed.com serves as a resource for news and information about feed for larvae, fry and broodstock as well as about aquaculture and hatchery management in general. The site is organized by species, with sections for crustaceans, mollusks and fish, and there is a free newsletter that users can sign up for.

“While feed and nutrition, and especially manufactured feed, will be the core subject, you cannot separate it from hatchery management in general. Hatcheryfeed therefore carries information about feeding protocols and general management issues as well,” said Suzi Dominy, the site’s publisher.

Meredith Brooks will be the editor of Hatcheryfeed. She also serves as the information specialist for the Center for Tropical and Subtropical Aquaculture in Hawaii.
