Regal Springs deploys new wireless tech across production centers

Regal Springs, which operates tilapia and fish farms in rural areas of Mexico, Honduras and Indonesia, has contracted with INXITE, InfiNet's partner in Mexico specializing in wireless communications and infrastructure solutions, to help establish a reliable wireless backhaul network that will allow for the simultaneous transmission of voice, data and video streams between all of Regal Springs’ production centers.

INXITE's custom-built system addresses “Regal Springs' challenging landscape and environment,” including harsh climates, it said in a press release. Regal Springs "now has the capability of transmitting voice, data and video surveillance wirelessly...smoothly and effectively across great distances," the company said. The system was thoroughly grounded as to allow it to withstand frequent atmospheric discharges associated with lighting strikes, InfiNet said.

“Before the InfiNet Wireless implementation, we had to depend on low-cost wireless technologies that did not provide the required performance for us to be able to maintain the high-quality standards our operation needed every day,” said Humberto Villalobos, IT manager at Regal Springs Mexico. “We are very satisfied with the InfiNet high-speed connectivity deployed throughout the water reservoirs that support our different applications and interconnectivity with our processing plants on the other side of the mountains, all in real time.”

The system chosen for Regal Springs was the InfiLINK XG, which is known for its “best-in-class data rates, speeds and low latency," Carlos de la Madrid, LATAM director at InfiNet Wireless, said.

“Regal Springs needed a solution that was both flexible in terms of geographical coverage and one that improved company productivity, as well as deliver error-free data packets across all production centres,” de la Madrid said. “The solution provided by InfiNet Wireless, along with significantly reduced operational costs when compared to the previous platform, allowed Regal Fish Farms to improve the productivity of its employees and assets, and their valuable time is no longer spent on manual tasks and interventions.”
