The Global Aquaculture Alliance's (GAA) Standards Oversight Committee (SOC) on Friday announced it appointed its final round of members to the Salmon Technical Committee (STC).
The 12-member committee includes representatives from industry, NGOs and academia from the United States, Chile, Norway, Scotland, New Brunswick and British Columbia.
Members include Adolfo Alvial, Marine Harvest Chile; Randi Haldorsen, Marine Harvest Norway; Michael Szemerda, Cooke Aquaculture; Mary Ellen Walling, British Columbia Salmon Farmers Association; Marius Dalen, Bellona Foundation; Theresa Ish, Environmental Defense; Dawn Purchase, Marine Conservation Society; Matthew Thompson, New England Aquarium; Conrad Mahnken, Washington State Fish Commission Society and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration; Paul Mitdtlyng, Norwegian School of Veterinary Science; Saksida Sonja, Center of Aquaculture Health Sciences.
Former Stolt Sea Farm-Washington President John Forster was named chair of the committee in February.
Over their three-year terms, members will review issues, vote on drafts and consider proposals for both new standards and revisions.
