There’s no better way to learn the science behind the aquaculture industry than to do a site visit to a fish or shellfish farm. But to get the whole-industry perspective and the issues facing fish farmers, then attend the Global Aquaculture Alliance’s GOAL13 in Paris.

SeafoodSource and sister product SeaFood Business magazine are the official media outlets of the conference, which will be held 7 Oct at the Hotel Pullman in the heart of Paris’ historic Left Bank.

We look forward to providing exclusive video coverage of the event, which helps steer important industry discussions. This year's theme, "Join the Journey," recognizes that responsible aquaculture is not a destination, but a journey. The conference lineup will include a discussion of opportunities to grow aquaculture production in Africa and the Middle East, and what fish farmers there can do to better access European markets.

GOAL 2013 is expected to draw upward of 400 seafood professionals representing the world's leading retailers, foodservice operators, suppliers, producers and NGOs. In addition to the program sessions, there will be opportunities to network with industry leaders and set up meetings with existing and potential suppliers and buyers.

If you haven’t already signed up to attend GOAL, I urge you to consider what role farmed product plays in your business. Can you afford to go into the future without a roadmap of what’s happening in the global aquaculture industry? If not, then we’ll see you in Paris next month.
