World’s largest barramundi hatchery opens in Australia

Almost half the global barramundi industry’s seed stock will be produced in Wyndham, following the opening of the world’s largest barramundi hatchery in Werribee.

Mainstream Aquaculture’s hatchery in Lock Avenue, which will export barramundi stock to 14 countries across four continents, was officially opened by state Agriculture and Food Security Minister Peter Walsh on Monday.

Chief executive Boris Musa said the company was the world’s leading provider of recirculating aquaculture food-fish products.
