– The At-sea Processors Association (APA) has hired Heidi Olson as its new vice president for fisheries policy and advocacy.

“We are thrilled to welcome Heidi to the APA team,” APA CEO Matt Tinning said. “Heidi’s love of Alaska fisheries and her commitment to sustaining them for future generations will be at the center of her advocacy work on behalf of our industry.”

Olson is based in Anchorage, Alaska, U.S.A., and will be tasked with working alongside regional fishery managers statewide, including representatives from the North Pacific Fishery Management Council. Previously, she worked at the Associated General Contractors of Alaska as a membership director.

Olson moved to Alaska to pursue a career as a fisheries observer, gaining experience in monitoring and data collection protocols as well as working as a deckhand in the region fishing sablefish and salmon.

“I’m excited to be joining the Alaska pollock sector and to have the opportunity to advocate on behalf of the catcher/processor fleet,” Olson said. “For decades, the Eastern Bering Sea has been at the global forefront of responsible fishery management. I’m committed to sharing that story of success with more Alaskans and to ensuring that the industry’s longstanding commitment to continuous improvement is maintained and extended.”

– Bronx, New York, U.S.A.-based online grocery delivery firm FreshDirect has hired Marie Claire Bryant as its senior category manager of seafood.

Bryant has been with the company for just over four years, starting as an associate category manager of fresh products in July 2022. After two years in that role, she was promoted to category manager of fresh products in June 2024, where she spent another two and a half years. Now, as the senior category manager of seafood, Bryant will manage category assortment, direct purchasing, vendor relationships, and merchandising strategies for all seafood offerings.
