Brooklyn, New York, U.S.A. based smoked fish company Acme Smoked Fish Corporation has officially promoted Rob Snyder to the CEO role of the fourth-generation, family-owned company, replacing longtime CEO Eduardo Carbajosa, who retired.
In July 2025, Snyder told SeafoodSource that his time spent at the company, including as the firm's chief people and sustainability officer, prepared him well for the CEO position.
"As the company moves to the fourth generation of ownership, it is an appropriate time to align with this idea of prioritizing people and sustainability," he said. "The owners recognize that the world is changing and we need to orient ourselves around our workforce differently. That's where company culture and sustainability are highly linked. People are looking for purpose-driven companies, which aligns well with our family ownership backed by a multi-generational commitment and passion for the craft of smoked fish."
Prior to working at Acme, Snyder was the president of the Island Institute, based in Rockland, Maine, U.S.A. His work experience includes over 20 years across the seafood and general food industries.
As CEO of Acme, his focus will be on operational excellence, global leadership, and value creation.
“I’d like to thank ... Eduardo Carbajosa and the Caslow family for building a strategically networked global business with an incredible team behind it,” Snyder said. “Over the past six months, I’ve worked closely with our leadership team to position Acme for growth and operational excellence. 2026 will be a year of value realization, as we leverage recent investments in technology, people, and infrastructure to navigate a fast-changing marketplace. I’m honored to take the helm at this important moment in Acme’s long history.”
Acme added that Snyder’s appointment will kickstart “a new phase of investment, innovation, and long-term growth as Acme continues to strengthen its position as a global leader in ready-to-eat seafood.”
“We are incredibly grateful to Eduardo for his leadership and his deep commitment to Acme’s mission,” Acme Chairman David Caslow said. “He leaves behind a remarkable legacy, and we thank him for his many contributions. As we look to the future, Rob’s values-driven leadership, operational expertise, and passion for our people and products make him the ideal person to guide Acme into its next chapter.”
