Belgium-based seafood companies Aquamarine Seafood and Tradimer have merged operations to become Aquamarine-Tradimer.

The companies said that after two decades of collaboration, they entered into a strategic cooperation agreement to establish joint activities. The newly formed joint company will have Bert Van Loock serve as the CEO, and Philippe Windey serve as the CCO.

"This step reflects our shared vision of building a stronger, more efficient, and more customer-focused company. By combining strengths, we ensure continuity for our partners and position ourselves for future growth," Loock said in a release.

The companies said the merger is the result of extensive discussions between Loock and Windey, and is in part due to the long-standing cooperations between the two.

While both companies have long operated in the Benelux and broader E.U. seafood markets, their customer bases have shown minimal overlap,” the companies said. “The cooperation therefore not only expands the combined supplier network and product portfolio but also broadens market coverage, benefitting customers across the region.”

Aquamarine-Tradimer said the new merger will bring greater operational efficiencies by combining logistics and administrative resources “in a time of growing regulatory complexity.”

"Tradimer and Aquamarine have always shared the same values. By uniting our networks, expertise, and product offerings, we are creating real added value for customers and suppliers alike," Windey said.

The companies will also have an expanded product range of seafood items including fish, crustaceans, sushi, and specialty items like salmon roe and uni.

Loock told SeafoodSource that the combined companies are aiming to increase revenue by 50 percent in 2025 with the merger.
