Blue Star furthers expansion strategy with millennial seafood hire

Florida, U.S.A-based seafood supplier Blue Star Foods is onboarding Jacob Valleau, formerly of High Liner Foods’ Rubicon Resources, as its new Business Development Manager, the company announced on Tuesday, 1 May.

Valleau, who brings both sustainable seafood experience and social media know-how to the role, will work to help expand the reach of Blue Star’s enhanced branding initiatives, the company said. His insights as a millennial will coincide swimmingly with Blue Star’s goals for the future, added Max Christenson, Blue Star’s National Director of Marketing. 

“We are generating greater awareness of FIP within Blue Swimming Crab, quality vs. price and innovating the premium seafood category. Jacob is a millennial, his thought process within responsible seafood meshes very well with what we have set out to do. He is a fantastic addition to our team,” Christenson said in a news release announcing Valleau’s hire.

“The seafood industry is on the cusp of a renaissance period. Additions of a younger demographic to our team will better prepare us for this rebirth of the global seafood economy. Consumers, especially millennials search for premium and responsible seafood that is focused on sustainability and quality,” said Carlos Faria, a partner of the company. 

Blue Star has been innovating its overall company strategy as of late, and plans to introduce new premium seafood items this year to increase its presence in both foodservice and retail, it said. The company remains committed to continuous improvement, especially in the case of blue swimming crab.
