Clearwater Seafoods CFO Teresa Fortney plans to depart company

Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada-based Clearwater Seafoods announced 27 March that the company’s vice president of finance and chief financial officer, Teresa Fortney, plans to leave the company. 

According to the company, Fortney plans to stay on in the position until a replacement has been found, in order to “ensure a smooth transition.”

"On behalf of the board of directors and Clearwater’s executive team, I want to thank Teresa for her many contributions to Clearwater over the last three years and her decision to stay on to help us ensure a smooth transition,” Clearwater CEOIan Smith said in a company release. “We wish her all the best in her future endeavors."

Fortney was appointed to the position on 24 March, 2016, following the retirement of Bob Wight. Prior to her tenure at Clearwater, she was the CFO of Wescast, as well as a senior finance professional at Maple Leaf Foods. 

According to the company, she plans to leave in order to “pursue other opportunities closer to her family in Ontario.”
