Former Orca Bay leader joins BBRSDA as new marketing director

Lilani Dunn, Orca Bay Seafoods’ former head of marketing, has joined the Bristol Bay Regional Seafood Development Association (BBRSDA), the organization announced on 2 March.

Dunn will serve as BBRSDA’s marketing director, and brings ample experience to the role from her time with both Orca Bay and the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute (ASMI).

After joining Orca Bay in 2015, Dunn helped to establish the brand as one of 2016’s top 20 in the seafood sector. Within the company, she held positions in the foodservice, retail, and direct sales marketing departments. She also led Orca Bay’s public relations and philanthropic efforts.

Meanwhile, with ASMI, Dunn worked on retail and foodservice marketing programs, and currently serves as the organization’s vice-chair of its Domestic Marketing Committee. She also sits on the board of the Northwest Fisheries Association.

“Lilani has a built a strong seafood marketing resume, and a reputation as an innovator and leader with a great work ethic,” BBRSDA Executive Director Andy Wink said in a press release. “We’ve long enjoyed working with Lilani as an industry colleague, and we’re excited to bring her on as part of our team.”

“Having worked in seafood for years, I understand the challenges and nuances of our industry, and I know how to grow a brand and reach new customers,” Dunn added. “I am very excited to represent the Bristol Bay sockeye fishery alongside the talented team of BBRSDA. It’s an excellent product with an amazing story and I can’t wait to help tell the world about it.”

Dunn will work out of Seattle, where she lives with her husband and child.
