Keyport, a Seattle-based seafood production company, will be moving its corporate headquarters to Edmonds, Washington, in the beginning of February.
Keyport, founded in 1997, is one of the country’s largest distributers of snow, king, and Dungeness crab. It also produces and sell ready-to-eat food such as seafood ravioli, seafood chowders, and seafood macaroni and cheese.
The larger location will allow for flexibility and growth, as it contains additional office space, and a new test kitchen. A steady increase in the company's sales volumes has caused Keyport to seek out more commercial space.
“Seattle has been our home for 20 years [but] its increasingly challenging business climate makes it a good time to move," Keyport President and CEO Mark Pederson said. "Edmonds is a business friendly maritime community, that will allow us to expand our business and offers our staff less traffic and a safe environment.”
Edmonds Mayor Dave Earling said he was excited for Keyport’s arrival.
“We are very excited to have Keyport relocate to Edmonds. They will make a great addition to our community. We’re excited that Keyport recognizes Edmonds as having a welcoming business climate, convenient location for its staff and a high quality of life.”
Edmonds is a waterfront community located about 10 miles north of Seattle, with a population of around 40,000 people.
Keyport opened a sales office in Chapel Hill, North Carolina three years ago. Keyport also has a processing facility in Norway, as well as distribution offices across the United States.
