P&P acquires stake in Platvis Holland B.V.

Parlevliet & Van der Plas (P&P) has acquired a stake in Netherlands-based flatfish processor Platvis Holland B.V., expanding the company’s processing capacity.

According to a press release, P&P acquired a stake in Platvis on 19 August, and plans to continue operations at the flatfish company. P&P’s existing flatfish activities will be integrated into Platvis’ processes to “create a win-win situation for all parties.”

Platvis’ goal in the new relationship, according to the release, is to access larger markets than before.

“In order to be able to give more depth to its product portfolio, to start new activities and to serve an even larger market, it proved necessary to join a larger party in order to be able to achieve this goal,” the release said.

Following the joint venture, the two companies have also taken over Nordpesca Europe N.V., which will continue operations under the name Nordpesca Holland B.V.

“This Belgian company will be transferred to the Netherlands in the former company of Van de Gruiter and now falls within the group of Platvis Holland B.V.,” the release said. “We believe that the addition of Nordpesca will further improve and increase our position in the fresh market in Europe.”
