Southwind Foods has reached an agreement to acquire two other California-based seafood distributors.
Southwind, based in Carson, California, U.S.A., distributes fresh and frozen seafood under the Great American Seafood brand name, among others, to foodservice and retail customers in the United States. It announced a deal to purchase Galaxy Foods and Equator both based in San Pedro, California.
“We are very excited about this opportunity to combine resources with these two outstanding companies,” Southwind Foods CEO Buddy Galletti said. “Our companies share a passion for what we do and a commitment to always strive to provide the highest levels of quality products and customer service in our industry. We think this merger will result in additional distribution channels for us as well as an opportunity to collaborate with the excellent management teams at Galaxy and Equator about exciting new ideas for our companies.”
The deal is expected to close in early July and will result in Galaxy Foods and Equator merging into Southwind Foods’ operations in Carson.
