Gaudy Lara has joined Rockland, Maine, U.S.A.- and Rutland, Vermont, U.S.A.-based Tropical Aquaculture Products as its new senior sales manager, the company announced on 23 June.
Lara will oversee all of Tropical’s sales in the role, the firm said in a press release, applying her extensive aquaculture industry and sales experience to the task.
Her work in the aquaculture sector began in 1995, when Lara worked on a farm in Costa Rica serving as a liaison between operations and the U.S. sales office, among other duties. She then transitioned to an exports and imports manager role while still in Costa Rica, handling fish shipments to the U.S. and beyond. In 2007, Lara moved to the U.S. to take on a logistics manager role before transitioning into a sales manager role.
Tropical Aquaculture Executive Vice President Jim Lesser said Lara’s depth of industry insight, including her expertise in tilapia farming, is a great fit for the company.
“I’m excited that Gaudy is joining the Tropical team, her deep understanding and knowledge of tilapia aquaculture farming, production, and sales is unsurpassed in the industry,” Lesser said. “She is passionate about tilapia and understands the balance between taking care of the customers and taking care of the farms.”

The company works with a cooperative of family-run aquaculture operations throughout South America and beyond, and was one of the first importers of fresh, premium tilapia into the United States. Its portfolio includes fresh and frozen tilapia, fresh and frozen shrimp, fresh steelhead trout, fresh European Union-certified organic salmon, and fresh Icelandic day-boat cod.
