Fishing equipment and aquaculture equipment manufacturer Vónin has taken over management of Mørenot Scotland, which will be renamed Vónin UK and will trade as Vónin Scotland, in a move that consolidates the two Hampidjan Group-owned companies.

Hampidjan Group announced its intent to purchase Ålesund, Norway-based Mørenot Group in December 2022 and later purchased and split the company into four divisions in May 2023. The transaction was completed by Reykjavik, Iceland-based Hampidjan Group for a sum of NOK 1.1 billion (then USD 99.2 million, EUR 92.4 million) and valued Mørenot at EUR 106.2 million (then USD 113.9 million).

Hampidjan CEO Bjørn Nogva said in a press release during the purchase that there were “several large synergies” between Mørenot and Hampidjan, as both companies produce, sell, and service fishing and aquaculture equipment.

Now, Vónin has taken over management of Mørenot Scotland, consolidating the two companies and enhancing Vónin’s presence in Scotland.

“This takeover marks a landmark moment in our history. We have steadily grown our presence in Scotland, emerging as a key supplier in the local aquaculture industry,” Vónin CEO Hjalmar Petersen said in a release. “With Vónin Scotland, we’re not just consolidating our position but also gearing up to bring even more innovation and excellence to the market.”

Mørenot Scotland has operations in Scalloway in Shetland, Scotland, and Scalpay on the Hebrides archipelago of Scotland. The company also has a team of 28 employees and is a specialist in manufacturing and servicing nets and moorings for aquaculture a role that fits well with Vónin as it, too, manufactures cage nets and moorings.

David Goodlad, the managing director  ofthe newly formed Vónin Scotland, welcomed the move to consolidate under Vónin.

“Becoming part of Vónin opens fantastic new opportunities. The combination of Vónin’s strong market reputation and our local know-how is a powerful one,” Goodlad said. “We’re looking forward to an exciting future and achieving great things together.”
