Consumer guide gives EcoFish an A+

EcoFish on Tuesday announced that the Better World Shopping Guide ranked it as the best environmental choice in the seafood industry.

The Dover, N.H.-based company, which markets its products under the Henry & Lisa’s Natural Seafood brand, earned the only A+ ranking in the guide and received the guide’s “Corporate Hero” listing.

“We are thrilled to be recognized as the best environmental choice in seafood,” said Henry Lovejoy, EcoFish president and founder. “EcoFish pioneered the sustainable seafood category 10 years ago, and we have worked tirelessly to impact positive change for the future for our oceans. Today the industry is starting to embrace sustainability as the future of our industry, which is a victory for everyone, including fish.”

The Better World Shopping Guide is a handbook and Web site dedicated to providing consumers with a comprehensive, user-friendly account of the social and environmental responsibility of every company. It lists the seafood industry as one of the top 10 industries that requires change to become more sustainable.

EcoFish said it sources seafood exclusively from sustainable fisheries. Its products, which range from farmed shrimp and Alaska salmon to mahimahi and canned albacore tuna, can be found in more than 3,000 grocery stores and 100 restaurants nationwide.
