Friend of the Sea on Thursday announced that Swiss seafood trader Dorig & Brandi AG’s Der Frisch-Fisch brand has been certified sustainable.
Dorig & Brandi AG requires its suppliers to have sustainable management practices in place as well as appropriate qualifications and certifications, and all chain-of-custody documents must be in place.
“Friend of the Sea’s strict criteria match our values,” said Rene Dorig, FOS managing director. “We do not stock threatened species from the ‘Red List’ of the International Union for Conservation of Nature, and we hope that by implementing these measures we can promote conservation and environmentally sustainable fisheries.”
