GlobalGAP develops add-on standard to CFM standard

GlobalGAP, a non-governmental organization that sets voluntary standards for the certification of agricultural products, has developed a voluntary add-on standard to its Compound Feed Manufacturing (CFM) standard and other benchmark standards.

The standard, called the Responsible Operations Standard (ROS) for compound feed manufacturers, will improve the sustainability of compound feed production. The first draft of the ROS for CFM is open for public consultation until 15 February 2015.

The add-on standard is intended to be implemented voluntarily. Feed mills currently certified under GlobalGAP and supplying feed to the livestock and aquaculture industriese will have the option to upgrade on practices through compliance with the ROS add-on, which will be reflected on the certification at farm level.

The document is available for review here.
