Greenpeace continues Chicken of the Sea assault

Greenpeace on Thursday released another cartoon spoofing Chicken of the Sea's iconic mermaid.

The cartoon, which can be viewed here, extols the sustainability of pole-and-line caught tuna, while criticizing Chicken of the Sea for using fish aggregating devices (FADs).

The cartoon shows Chicken of the Sea’s mermaid as a cooking show contestant who can only think about killing more tuna.

“Take one random floating object, attach a radio beacon so you can find it later, drop it in the ocean and return later with a giant net and scoop up everything in sight. That’s how Chicken of the Sea catches tuna using FADs and it’s a recipe for disaster for our oceans,” said Greenpeace. “Despite public outcry, Chicken of the Sea continues to slaughter baby tuna, sharks, turtles and other species in its thirst for profit.”
