Icelandic USA, Virginia Aquarium partner

Icelandic USA on Friday announced its partnership with the Virginia Aquarium and Science Center and its Sensible Seafood program.

The Sensible Seafood program is designed to help consumers make sustainable seafood decisions in stores and at restaurants; it was developed in conjunction with the Monterey Bay Aquarium (MBA) and an advisory panel of regional seafood experts, including representation from Icelandic.

The program also provides consumers with a color-coded pocket guide that rates the most popular seafood items using MBA’s popular traffic-light system.

Icelandic will promote the program through several initiatives and events, including the Sensible Seafood Fest in May and the Second Annual Icelandic Seafood Fest 8K run in June. At the Sensible Seafood Fest, Icelandic Corporate Chef Hilmar Jonsson will prepare offerings from Icelandic’s product line, showcasing support of the Sensible Seafood Pocket Guide recommendations.

“We are excited to partner with the Virginia Aquarium and Science Center of the Sensible Seafood program,” said Chuck Spencer, Icelandic global sustainability specialist. “The Sensible Seafood program’s position on conservation of the oceans and waterways is aligned with the ideals and objectives of Icelandic Group.”
