Iglo Austria hits 100% MSC-certified target

Iglo Austria has achieved its goal of offering only Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) ecolabel-certified ocean-caught fish in its entire frozen range.

According to Iglo, the company was involved in setting up the MSC program, and now carries the MSC label on all 33 products in its range.

“We need to establish trust for people to consume fish responsibly,” said Rainer Herrmann, managing director of Iglo Austria. “Each of our fish products can be traced back to the original catch area thanks to a tracking code on the packaging. Now being 100 percent MSC certified, Austrian consumers can be certain that all Iglo ocean-caught fish come from independently certified, sustainable fisheries.”

To promote the sustainable seafood, Iglo has launched a social media campaign where consumers can enter the fish tracking code on their Iglo package to trigger a donation to an MSC-related project.
