Alabama-based Carrington Foods has joined the National Fisheries Institute’s Crab Council, bringing the total number of members to 17.
The council supports producers and exporters in Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam and the Philippines to advance the sustainability of blue swimming crab fisheries and provides funding to coordinate research programs and management initiatives for the species.
In early February, the council gained three members, Bonamar Corp., Stavis Seafoods and Quirch Foods. The 17 companies represent the bulk of the U.S. market for imported blue swimming crab.
