Young’s joins Seafish UK fishing workshop

Young’s Seafood took part in the first Fishing into the Future workshop held in the U.K. this week, to develop more sustainable fishing practices.

The workshop was co-hosted by Seafish and the Prince’s Charities’ International Sustainability Unit, and included fishermen, fisheries scientists, managers and supply chain experts, all working toward more sustainable U.K. fisheries.

Mike Mitchell, technical and CSR director at Young’s, addressed the workshop, speaking about the relationship between consumers and the fishing industry, and the need to balance ethical value with monetary value.

“It was great to be amongst so many representatives from the UK fishing and seafood industry, and was an ideal forum for exchanging knowledge and experience between us,” Mitchell said. “There were some very interesting discussions, and I look forward to being a part of taking forward the ideas and actions.”
