Gulf Seafood Trace wins Telly Awards

Gulf Seafood Trace has won two national awards for its documentary-style video on traceability.

Gulf Seafood Trace is an ongoing nonprofit project run by the Gulf States Marine Fisheries Commission that tracks and traces seafood harvested in the Gulf of Mexico. The project’s video, “Your Seafood Has a Story: Gulf Seafood Trace,” won two Telly awards for local, regional and cable television programs and/or commercials. The video won in the “Nature/Wildlife” and “Corporate Training” categories.

“Winning this award is important to our industry,” said Alex Miller, the commission’s staff economist and Gulf Seafood Trace Program Manager. “This draws attention to the efforts we are making on behalf of the harvesters, docks, distributors and processors to establish a program that will ultimately increase their business.”

The video was among nearly 12,000 entries from all 50 states and numerous countries that competed for the national Telly awards. It tells the story of the project’s traceability program. The video runs six minutes and 10 seconds and can be seen on the Gulf Seafood Trace website, on YouTube, and on Vimeo.
