Morey’s facility achieves BRC certification

The distribution facility operated by Morey’s Seafood International has earned the British Retail Consortium (BRC) certification under the Global Standard for Food Safety, the company announced on Wednesday.

The Golden Valley, Minn., facility has earned certification with a grade of “A,” the highest possible grade.

BRC audits are based on seven sub-categories — senior management commitment, food safety plan (HACCP), food safety and quality management system, site standards, product control, process control and personnel.

“At Morey’s Seafood International we strive to be extremely proactive regarding food safety and quality,” said Mike McFee, VP of operations at the Golden Valley facility. “This allows us to exceed customer expectations. Receiving a BRC certification is a positive affirmation of our efforts to continually improve our process and products.”
