Ray's Chowder Wins Seattle SOS People's Choice

Ray's Gourmet Wild Alaskan Yukon Salmon Chowder from Boreal Fisheries in Graham, Wash., won the Seattle People's Choice Award in the 15th annual Alaska Symphony of Seafood. A total of 14 seafood products were scrutinized at FareStart on Wednesday for the expert judging round and the People's Choice.

The Seattle judges included Bill Springer, SeaFood Business; Greg Blakey, Snopac Products; Drew Cherry, IntraFish; Eric Donnelly, The Oceanaire Seafood Room; Jim Harmon, SeaShare; Jim Humphreys, Marine Stewardship Council; Bill Luke, Food Services of America; Richard Mullins, Orca Bay Seafoods; Amy Pennington, freelance food writer; and Kevin Rowlee, Cannon Fish.

The final judging for the New Products Contest takes place in Anchorage, Alaska, on Jan. 31. Consumers will attend the Gala Soiree to pick the People's Choice Award, and the grand prize retail and foodservice winners will be announced at the same time.

Winners receive exhibit space at the International Boston Seafood Show, as well as free airfare to and from Boston.
