Three foreign workers were killed and 16 others were injured in an explosion caused by a gas leak at a Brunei seafood plant, the government reported Wednesday.
The explosion occurred Tuesday near the capital, Bandar Seri Begawan, according to the government.
The plant was damaged, and residents in the area felt the blast, said local village leader Hassan bin Jerudin.
The Borneo Bulletin on Wednesday quoted a fisherman, identified only as Ugik, as saying he heard the explosion at about midday and saw workers running out of the plant, some covered in blood.
Brunei is located on the north coast of the island of Borneo, in Southeast Asia.
