Anova introduces consumer packaging, Simply Tasty line at SEG15

Anova announced new consumer-oriented packaging for its fresh products as well as its Simply Tasty portfolio of products this week at Seafood Expo Global 2015 in Brussels, Belgium.

In addition to packaging that better displays the company’s fresh products, Hendrick Colpaert, commercial director, said Anova is organizing production around its fresh products to optimize the company’s supply chain.

Anova’s Simply Tasty portfolio includes MSC-certified albacore tuna, Arctic chum salmon, cod and Alaska pollock as well as ASC-certified shrimp and pangasius. The goal of the line was to present the consumer with a clean, fresh product aimed at increasing seafood consumption, said Colpaert.

“To increase seafood consumption, we need to do everything to optimize taste,” he said. “We believe we can do that if we bring [seafood] to the consumer in the purest way – 'purest' meaning no additives, and with short processing, whether fished or farmed.”

Colpaert added the company had a strong response to the new line during the first day of the expo. “We had a volume prediction done before [the show]. After one day, we may have to review that forecast,” he said. “Consumers understand what we’re doing [with the line], and they’re willing to invest in it.”
