Washington, D.C., U.S.A-based Blue Circle is rolling out its new frozen Salmon Sausage.

Made with salmon cuts, the product is available on its website for USD 8.99 (EUR 8.29) per four-pack. Flavors include Original, Lemon Dill, Italian, and Apple Thyme.

The Salmon Sausage is made with 96 percent sustainable salmon and 4 percent simple ingredients like garlic, onion, and paprika, Blue Circle said in a press release.

“Besides sourcing its premium Norwegian salmon from a family-owned farm, every sausage is crafted using all available salmon cuts. The brand doesn’t let any imperfect pieces go to waste,” Blue Circle said.

The sausages are free from nitrates and preservatives that are seen in traditional sausages, Blue Circle Product Director Nina Damato told SeafoodSource.

"They are the perfect quick and healthy meal to throw on the grill all summer long,” Damato said. “More shoppers are looking for sustainable seafood and are following a flexitarian diet. Our Salmon Sausage is a great alternative for those who are still looking to have animal protein but want to be more mindful of their own health and Mother Earth.”

The sausages were a NEXTY finalist this year at Natural Products Expo West in March.

“At Blue Circle, transparency and sustainability guide everything we do,” Damato said. “We are proud to lead the seafood industry in reducing waste.”

Blue Circle also introduced frozen Atlantic salmon burgers last July. In 2019, it launched Happy Fish, fish-shaped frozen salmon patties, in Whole Foods Market stores. And in late 2018, the supplier launched Changing Seas Peppered Smoked Salmon in Whole Foods Market stores.
