Captain D’s lands Huddle House CEO

Captain D’s Seafood Kitchen on Monday announced that it appointed Philip Greifeld as CEO, effective 13 September.

Greifeld comes to the Nashville, Tenn.-based fast-casual seafood chain from Huddle House restaurants, where he was CEO for nearly 12 years. Overall, he has 20-plus years of leadership experience in the restaurant and retail industries.

Greifeld will succeed David Head, who last month was named president and CEO of O’Charley’s restaurants.

“I look forward to working closely with Captain D’s management and associates on providing our customers with the best possible service and experience,” Greifeld told Nation’s Restaurant News. “I am excited about the brand and its rich history and opportunities to further grow the company — from expanding its market presence or introducing new menu items to exploring innovative store concepts.”

Captain D’s operates 539 restaurants in 25 U.S. states and in military bases worldwide. Sun Capital Partners, a Boca Raton, Fla.-based private investment firm, acquired the 41-year-old brand from Sagittarius Brands in May for an undisclosed sum.
