Chinese investors buy Spanish tuna canner

Investment group China Resources has purchased Spanish tuna canner Hijos de Carlos Albo for EUR 48 million (USD 54.6 million).

According to Spanish media, the agreement is for 100 percent of the brand and production, but real estate assets belong to another company connected to the Albo family. The company, based in Vigo, Spain, has three plants in Vigo and Tapia de Casariego.

The company, founded by Carlos Albo in 1929, is listed as having EUR 84.4 million (USD 96 million) in sales in 2014, most of which were in the domestic supermarket sector.
