Loblaw’s plan to sell farmed Aquaculture Stewardship Council-certified Atlantic salmon won’t have any impact on Cooke Aquaculture Inc. of New Brunswick.
“We have a good relationship with them,” Cooke spokeswoman Nell Halse said in an interview Wednesday. “We’re a major supplier.”
Canada’s largest grocer, also the country’s biggest seafood buyer and seller, recently announced it will be the first North America retailer to sell salmon that the independent, not-for-profit organization, based in the Netherlands, has certified.
