Heiploeg touts benefits of Prix d’Elite victory

In 2012, Netherlands-based Heiploeg Group received the award for Best New Seafood Product Line for its frozen Seafood Duo and Seafood Trio product line at the European Seafood Exposition (ESE).

The award marked the third consecutive year the shrimp processor and marketer took home a Prix d’Elite award.

Margreet van Harn, Heiploeg marketing director said the company’s award status has helped it grow and publicize its products and has created a sense of pride internally.

In 2011, after winning the award for its prawn antipasti line, Heiploeg placed to award logo in advertising and on product leaflets. According the Heiploeg, while direct commercial success of these types of marketing tactics is somewhat hard to quantify, displaying the logo and publicizing the award served to elevate the interest for and image of the product line.

Last year, Heiploeg displayed the logo in its show booth at ESE. The company said it greatly increased face-to-face networking opportunities and leading to numerous business prospects.

“Awards like this show that the seafood sector is vibrant and continuously developing,” van Harn said. “It has brought us a lot of interest in and positive publicly for our products and our company. It certainly is an extra impulse to continue developing attractive new seafood concepts.”
