High Liner expands Icelandic foodservice line

High Liner Foods has launched South Paws Hush Puppy Coated Seafood for its Icelandic foodservice brand.

Hush puppies, a traditional Southern-style side dish often served with seafood, are made from cornmeal batter and fried or baked into a crispy ball or sphere shape. South Paws puts seafood — in a variety of species and portion sizes — inside High Liner’s hush puppy coating system, blended with sweet onion.

The South Paws line includes striped pangaius fillets, shrimp, popcorn shrimp, Alaska pollock nuggets and flounder fillets.

“Chefs are increasingly taking culinary inspiration from traditional, Southern comfort foods,” said Jim Papadakis, Icelandic seafood brand manager. “South Paws capitalizes on this trend. Operators who put South Paws on their menu are serving their customers a delicious option that’s both distinct and familiar, and available in multiple options to please many different customers tastes.”
