Icelandic USA adds beer-battered products

Icelandic USA last week launched two new retail products. Yuengling Lager Beer Battered Popcorn Fish was added to the Virginia-based company’s Yuengling haddock product line. The fish are 0.60-ounce crispy fish bites made with North Atlantic haddock dipped in Icelandic Brewer’s Choice coating made with Yuengling Lager. The company also produces a non-alcoholic version.

The company also introduced striped pangasius strips. The fillets are dipped in Red Hook ESE Beer Batter and Dixie Crunch breading. Both are available in a 1- to 2-ounce and 2- to 3-ounce portion. A 4-ounce sandwich portion with Icelandic’s Gourmet Panko breading is also available.

“America is going to love pangasius. It’s definitely a fish for today,” said Jim Papadakis, Icelandic’s director of marketing. “Pangasius is already distributed into 65 markets worldwide and one of the most successful whitefish species of all time. The United States is about to find out what it’s been missing.”
