Jamaica supplier nets Red Lobster contract

Kingston and Montego Bay-based supplier of premium quality seafood, Rainforest Seafoods, has inked a deal with United States-based Red Lobster to supply that firm with 100,000 pounds of lobster tail annually, in a bid to improve export production and up revenue, Rainforest manager Max Jardim says.

The company plans to export 200,000 pounds of lobster tail, annually, valued at about USD 3 million (EUR 2.2 million), almost JMD 320 million, the Rainforest head told Wednesday Business. He has targeted United States and European markets, amid plans to double export revenues to 40 percent in 2014 though its range of products.

"We have been awarded a contract by Red Lobster restaurants to supply the 100,000 pounds per year, a value of approximately USD 1.5 million (EUR 1.1 million),"Jardim said, noting the company shipped its first container last week.
