Russian Fishery Company’s Nordeco-branded products made from Alaska pollock have arrived on retail shelves in Russia.
Fillets, mince, and fish sticks made with Alaska pollock are now being sold in the Caviar and Fish outlet in Saint Petersburg and in the Samberi store in Primorsky Krai.
“We hope that Nordeco products will become for Russians the standard of quality and true taste of pollock – wild white fish, a rich source of macro- and micro-elements,” RFC CEO Fedor Kirsanov said in a press release. “The production of our own retail products allows us to control the quality from the moment of catch to the arrival on the store shelves, which means to guarantee the preservation of all its valuable properties.”
Nordeco products are caught and partially processed on RFC vessels and then frozen-at-sea. Further processing of the still-frozen fish is then completed by the Koszalin, Poland-based Espersen Group.
“During processing, the fish is not defrosted, which ensures high quality of the product,” RFC said in its release.
This month, RFC also launched a new line of pollock products co-branded with Agama Group. The two companies formed a joint venture in October 2018. The combined “Agama-Nordeco” line includes portioned pollock fillets and pollock fillets in individual packaging. All products in the line are made from single-frozen pollock which is not defrosted during processing.
RFC is one of the world’s largest producers of wild-caught whitefish, with a focus on pollock and Pacific herring. The company has in recent years outlined strategic goals that include increasing its output of high value-added products, modernizing its fleet through the construction of new, state-of-the-art super-trawlers, and building new coastal processing plants.
