Ocean Beauty Sponsors Alaska Snowboarder

Ocean Beauty Seafoods of Seattle yesterday announced its sponsorship of Alaskan snowboarder Callan Chythlook-Sifsof.

Chythlook-Sifsof is the 2007 National Snowboardcross (SBX) Champion and a 2010 Olympic hopeful. As part of the sponsorship, she will serve as an ambassador for the company and wild Alaska salmon.

"Callan is the perfect partner for Ocean Beauty. She's a Yupik/Inupiaq Eskimo from the Bristol Bay region, is part of a commercial fishing family and a world-class athlete who exemplifies the benefits of growing up on a diet of fresh Alaskan seafood. Her platform already highlights the benefits of a diet rich in wild Alaska salmon - such as building strong bones and better immunity as well as reducing the risks for diseases like cancer and heart disease," says Mark Palmer, Ocean Beauty president. "We're proud of her accomplishments and pleased to support her in the upcoming SBX season."

Chythlook-Sifsof lives and trains in Girdwood, Alaska, and was the first Alaska native to join the U.S. snowboarding team. She won her first national title at the Visa U.S. SBX Championship last year and earned the Jeep King of the Mountain Championship this year.

Ocean Beauty is one of the largest producers and distributors of canned, fresh, frozen, smoked and value-added Alaska seafood with seven facilities in the state.
