Red Lobster, other restaurants debut summer seafood dishes

Red Lobster is one of many United States restaurant chains launching new seafood dishes this summer.

While chains are featuring shrimp in their limited time menus, Orlando, Florida, U.S.A.-based Red Lobster recently rolled out a Crunch-Fried Flounder Sandwich.

The sandwich, available for a limited time, features hand-battered wild-caught flounder, tartar sauce and coleslaw with choice of one side, per Chew Boom.

A Red Lobster spokesperson did not respond to SeafoodSource’s request for a comment.

Meanwhile, Costa Mesa, California, U.S.A.-based California Pizza Kitchen is featuring two seafood dishes on its summer menu: Seafood Cioppino and Salmon with Pan-Roasted Summer Vegetables.

Included in CPK’s version of the Italian classic Seafood Cioppino dish are blue mussels, calamari, white fish, bay scallops, and shrimp in a white wine tomato broth with fennel, garlic, and fresh basil.

Meanwhile, the Salmon with Pan-Roasted Summer Vegetables includes North Atlantic salmon roasted on a cedar plank and served with fingerling potatoes, seasonal cherry tomatoes, charred onions, and bell peppers.

“Two things that immediately come to mind when we hear the words ‘California’ and ‘summer’ are fresh fruits and vegetables and seafood, and that’s what our new summer menu is all about,” CPK Senior Vice President of Culinary Innovation Brian Sullivan said in a press release.

Meanwhile, Tampa, Florida, U.S.A.-based Bonefish Grill rolled out a limited time dish: Shrimp Rangoon Topped Salmon. The wood-grilled salmon is topped with creamy shrimp rangoon and finished with Pancko bread crumbs and sweet chili sauce.

Shrimp is the star on many restaurants’ summer menus, as the cost of farmed shrimp has remained relatively stable versus other seafood and other proteins.

Louisville, Kentucky, U.S.A.-based Long John Silver’s, for instance, recently launched Coconut Popcorn Shrimp. Customers can order the new shrimp in a Snackbox or Combo Fish and Coconut Popcorn Shrimp Platter, or USD 10.00 (EUR 10.00) Sea-Share or Family Feast.

Likewise, Red Lobster, which operates more than 700 restaurants, rolled out a BBQ Bacon Grilled Shrimp dish as part of its Summerfest promotion.

The two fire-grilled shrimp skewers are glazed with sweet and smoky BBQ sauce and topped with crispy bacon and green onions, then served over orzo with a choice of one side. It can be ordered as part of Red Lobster’s “3 Courses for USD 18.99 (EUR 18.99)”, when paired with a soup or salad and individual starter.

Red Argentinian Shrimp Skewers, fire-grilled and served over orzo and a choice of two sides, are also included in Red Lobster’s Summerfest.

Mexican restaurant chain Qdoba unveiled a Citrus Lime Shrimp limited-time promotion, utilizing Best Aquaculture Practices-certified shrimp, earlier this summer.
